Valentine’s Day

This is one of those good days. In Poland we celebrate Valentine’s Day since the nineties, so this is something new for us. As opposed to Halloween which I am not very fond of – because in Poland this is the eve of two special days, which we spend remembering those who left forever – I think this one is a nice custom. Maybe nowadays it is too commercialized but still it brings smile and encourages us to be a little bit romantic for a while. So, despite the fact that we must drown in pink and red heart-shaped everything, that our ears are filled with all the love songs ever written – it’s worth it!

For the Valentine’s Day I prepared something special for you. In the galleries where I present my works, you will find many heart-shaped beauties now - necklaces with pop style hand-blown pendants, romantic necklaces and earrings with natural flowers (roses and orchids), brass necklaces with lockets, classic Swarovski’s items and many others. Happy Valentine’s to all of you!

Cameo's charm

Today, I would like to introduce a new look of classical jewellery. It seems to be taken out of grandmother's drawer. Among synthetic pearls, plastic brooches and metal chains, among precious rings with enormous stones and pastel-coloured clip-on earrings we have been able to find treasures with ladies' faces. Usually they were white or cream colour against dark backgrounds. Cameos used to be made of precious or semi-precious stones and they have been carved convexly.

My proposition are new, acrylic cameos. I combine them with brass, stones and Swarovski crystals. Take a look.

Recycling or even upcycling is also something that I like to play with. For the first time I saw those colourful metal beetles on a flea market.I combined resistors with classics of Swarovski crystals and cultured pearls and got an interesting proposition of long, industrial earrings in silver-plated setting.

Sleeping beauty

They have enchanted me from the first sight. I decided to make those minimalistic earrings just by putting subtle real roses buds on tiny silver hooks. Nothing should avert one's eyes from nature's simple beauty. Just look...

The 18th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

Today in Poland we are having a great fest of warm hearts. In spite of the fact that it is freezing cold, surrounding whiteness of snow is mixed with glitter of small red hearts. Teenagers, parents with their children, artists, VIPs, media, representatives of all kinds of professions (policemen, miners, nurses, plumbers…), everyone of us supports the 18th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. Since 1993 the Orchestra plays each year in January. During these eighteen years it has evolved from a local initiative to a worldwide event. This year the orchestra plays and collects money for children with cancer.

Traditionally, I also contribute and help raising funds for the Orchestra. Please, visit the auction of a beautiful brass necklace with a heart-shaped locket. All the money from the auction will support GOCC. Let’s play together and give our hearts to children.

As far as I remember I was always surrounded by people who were true hand-made artists, even if they have never treated themselves as ones. Not even noticing when I learned how to knit, sew, crochet, embroider... Handicraft became my great hobby and passion. The only question bothering me was what really ticks me - which techniques or materials should I choose. But who said I had to make a choice?

I constantly return to traditional techniques, which give me a lot of pleasure, but I also keep following new trends and, last but not least, I remember about realizing my own ideas.

Welcome to my blog dedicated to my great passion which has its brand new label - Ikati.
